Outline Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Outline is a single-player reflex game for iPhone. It is built to keep your data on your device. This policy explains what the app handles and the only circumstances in which anything leaves your phone.

It covers both the full app and the Outline App Clip — the small version that lets you play one round without installing anything. The clip stores less than the app and sends nothing anywhere.

Summary

What the app stores

Outline keeps your game results — the score for each session, the mode it was played in, its date, and your personal best for each mode — in the app's own storage on your device. That is the whole of it. There is no profile, no name, no email address, and nothing that identifies you. This data is never sent to the developer, and there is no server behind the app to send it to.

Game Center

Outline uses Apple's Game Center for leaderboards. If you are signed in to Game Center on your device, the app submits your session scores to Apple so they can be ranked, and reads leaderboard entries back to display them. What Apple receives is a score and the Game Center identity you have already set up with them — Outline sends no additional information, and receives no personal information about other players beyond the nicknames Game Center itself displays.

Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not this one. Game Center is optional: personal bests and play history are stored locally and work correctly offline, before you sign in, and if you never sign in at all. You can control Game Center in Settings → Game Center on your iPhone.

The App Clip

An App Clip is a small part of an app that iOS can run without installing the whole thing — you might reach Outline's from a link, a code, or the App Store. It plays one 30-second Classic session and shows you the result. It is a separate piece of software from the installed app, and it is treated separately here because it stores less and can do less.

The clip keeps the same kind of game results the app does — the score for a session, its date, and your personal best — but in its own storage, which is temporary. iOS removes an App Clip and everything it has saved after a period of not being used, and you can remove it yourself at any time. That data is separate from the full app's: if you go on to install Outline, the clip's scores do not carry over, and the app starts fresh.

The clip does less than the app in several ways that matter here. It does not use Game Center, so no score played in the clip is submitted to a leaderboard or sent to Apple. It does not include the Daily Challenge. It asks for no permissions — App Clips may request permission to send you a notification afterwards or to confirm your location, and Outline's declines both. And although a clip is normally told which link was used to open it, Outline's never reads that link: it plays the same game however you arrived.

After a session the clip shows Apple's own banner offering the full app from the App Store. That banner is provided by Apple, installing from it is a transaction between you and Apple, and the developer receives nothing from it beyond the aggregate figures described under The App Store and TestFlight below.

Contacting support

The support page offers two ways to get in touch, and nothing is sent unless you use one of them. If you email, the developer receives whatever you write, along with your email address, and it is used only to reply to you. If you use the feedback form, your submission is delivered through Google Forms, which records it for the developer to read; Google processes the submission on the developer's behalf and its use of the data is governed by Google's own policies.

The app itself has no built-in feedback screen and sends no diagnostic or crash reports of its own. Please include only what you are comfortable sharing — a device model, an iOS version and the app version from Menu → Version is usually all that is needed to look into a problem.

The App Store and TestFlight

Downloading Outline, and taking part in a TestFlight beta, are transactions between you and Apple. Apple may provide the developer with aggregate, anonymous statistics — such as download counts or crash reports — through App Store Connect. These come from Apple, not from anything the app collects, and do not identify individual players.

Data sharing

Aside from the cases described above, the developer does not receive, store, share, or sell any of your data. Outline contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind.

Data retention and deletion

Because your game data is stored only on your device, you are in full control of it: deleting the app removes all of it, and the developer holds no copy and therefore cannot access or delete it on your behalf. Scores already posted to a Game Center leaderboard are held by Apple and managed through your Game Center account. Messages you send to support are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.

Anything the App Clip saved is removed with the clip, whether iOS removes it for you after a period of disuse or you remove it yourself. Nothing the clip stored is kept anywhere else, and none of it reaches the developer.

Children's privacy

Outline is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
